Brides in Smoke

Best friends divorce their callous husbands together.

On their third anniversary, Ella is locked in a burning room by Charles's former lover. Charles, a firefighter, ignores her screams and rushes off to retrieve his ex's cat. Leah breaks in to pull Ella out and calls Noah, a doctor, begging him to save her friend and the baby Ella carries. Noah responds with mockery instead of aid. The cruelty caps years of silent suffering, driving both women to walk into a lawyer's office side by side and end their marriages to the Harper brothers.
