Edward shields Bella while she argues against their union.

Childhood sweethearts Edward and Bella were separated by fate. She became a lawyer; he grew wealthy. Their families arranged a marriage neither wanted. Edward retained Bella's firm to void the contract, never expecting she would draw the file. She accepted, seeing only a client desperate to escape a union she herself is bound to. Edward recognized her instantly across the table, yet stayed silent while she argued against the engagement, believing he was a stranger. He now watches over her from the shadows, hiding his identity and his lingering affection as the case moves forward.
