The Godfather's Caged Bird

Elena escapes to Cambridge, leaving Damian behind forever.

Elena Bennett surrendered her future at eighteen when Damian Moretti, heir to a New York crime dynasty, erased her mother's debt in exchange for ten years inside his estate. Every comfort was provided except the autonomy she craved. When Damian arranges a political marriage to Victoria Rossi, Elena stuns the household by requesting only admission to Cambridge. He retaliates by enrolling her in a lookalike college to humiliate her, then believes Victoria's frame-up of theft and severs their last tie. Undeterred, Elena studies in secret, reconnects with former classmate Aiden Walker, and earns top exam scores. Feigning submission, she convinces Damian to travel to Europe and vanishes during an Istanbul stopover using a decoy and private plane. Only then does he discover the brilliant student he caged.
