Mad in the Horde

Gamer weaponizes the vehicle against his betrayers.

A competitive player blindsided by a flashbang during a pentakill streak awakens inside the post-apocalyptic novel he trashed, inhabiting a namesake cannon-fodder character stranded outside an armored transport as Tier Six zombies close in. Over the walkie-talkie, the body's wife commands gunners to seal the hatch so a camp-wide livestream can broadcast his demise and secure her privileged inner-city position, while her male friend gloats that the sacrifice will earn him a permanent spot. Instead of begging, the gamer sneers, pulls a high-frequency concussion grenade, shatters the vehicle's ventilation valve, and hurls the device into the cabin.
