Before I Forget His Name

Dying woman confronts the don who cast her out

Mara's psychology homework triggers a brutal rupture with Roman DeLuca, the don who raised her since her parents died in a mob hit meant for his family. His 2 a.m. text brands her love as mere dependence, then he revokes her access, cuts their secure line, and orders his underboss to stop monitoring her. Security at DeLuca Tower turns her away with instructions to admit rivals before her. For half a year he avoids her at every encounter. Now an aggressive glioma presses into her language and memory centers, leaving only a narrow window for one last goodbye.
